Tahr
A mature bull Tahr is one
of New Zealand’s premier big game trophies. A unique animal in many
ways, due to their adaptation of high attitude living and without a doubt
an incredible ability to scale sheer rock faces. Horns greater than 11
inches and a nice skin constitute a trophy bull. Any bull with horns in
excess of 13 inches is considered exceptional. Tahr hunting is most
consistent from mid April through until early November. The situation of
our hunting operation on the South Island means that Tahr (& Chamois)
is available a short distance from our Stag & Fallow hunting estate.
